The goal of the Downtown Youth Center in San Jose is to reach out to inner city children and their families. At the DYC, young and adolescent children are introduced to Jesus Christ through a weekly mixture of fun activities, Bible teaching, and worship. Children come to the Center one night a week. The DYC is run entirely by volunteers. The DYC also partners with a local inner city Hispanic church, El Shaddai Ministries, to help serve and reach the families of the children. The DYC sponsors summer camps, weekend outings and several large events each year including a Thanksgiving gathering and a Christmas celebration where gifts are given to all the children and their families.
